Wednesday, February 12, 2025: Imagining, Building and Living in CoHousing

SUB Alumni Legacy Lounge,  Noon - 1 p.m.

Dr. Susanne Cowan at MSU’s School of Architecture will share some of her travels and research projects
from her recent sabbatical. This presentation will focus on cohousing, a form of cooperative living with
hundreds of local communities across the U.S. Bozeman’s cohousing is the first the first of its kind in
Montana, and over the past five years, it has been imagined, developed and managed by local residents.
Come learn more about this movement towards affordable housing.

Wednesday, March 12, 2025: Disparities in Access to Healthcare for Indigenous Women in Montana

SUB Alumni Legacy Lounge,  Noon - 1 p.m.

In this seminar, Dr Maggie Thorsen, Associate Professor of Sociology, will speak about the
limited and unequal access to maternal health care in the United States, particularly for rural
and Indigenous people. In this talk she will share insights from her research on Montana and
findings from across the US, to highlight the ongoing barriers to and facilitators of accessing
care during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as the health implications of limited maternal
health care for women and communities.


Wednesday, March 26, 2025: Unruly Women - Policing the Female Body, Then and Now

Throughout history, women have had to fight for bodily autonomy and basic human rights. After so much effort and sacrifice, why does misogyny remain? Why has access to reproductive care been once again restricted? Why does violence against women persist despite repeated generational movements? Join Associate Professor, Dr. Jennifer Hill, as she explores the lives of past and present Montana women, providing insight into the systems supporting misogyny and the multiple ways women have continued to resist these violations over time.
