Endpoint Synchronization
Along with doing basic transfers of files, Globus can be used to synchronize two different endpoints. However, this synchronization method is not a bidirectional synchronization and instead causes the destination folder to look like the source folder. A two way synchronization can be accomplished by doing two individual synchronizations.
Synchronization Process
-
Open Globus and select the two collections that you wish to begin a sync between.
-
Select the target folder that you want to sync at the destination.
-
Click the ‘Transfer & Timer Options’ dropdown and select the first ‘sync’ option. You can also select some of the other options if they match with what you want to accomplish, but only the ‘sync’ option is necessary.
-
Set the scheduling for the synchronization. The start time can be chosen at any point after the current moment. Next select the repeat interval of days, hours, minutes, or just a one time sync. Finally select the ‘end’ method of synchronization.
Currently you must log in every 30 days in order to keep a synchronization that lasts longer than 30 days going.
