Impact of the Gut Microbiome on Health Impacts of Haskap Berries

We are investigating the health impacts of Haskap berries! Specifically, the purpose of this study is to determine how 8 weeks of Haskap juice consumption may affect gut bacteria, molecules (metabolites) produced during chemical reactions in the body, inflammation, and the metabolic health of individuals. A second purpose of this study is to test how changes in the gut microbiome influence how people respond to Haskap consumtion.

What to expect: Three visits to the MSU Nutrition Research Laboratory with the second and third visits separated by an 8-week intervention period where you will be asked to follow provided dietary instructions and consume a twice daily juice dose (morning and evening). During research visits, submaximal exercise testing (incline walk on treadmill) will be performed as well as blood and stool collections.

Benefits: Information on your body composition, blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood lipid panel.

Compensation: You will be compensated up to $200.
