Alcohol and Drug Risk Reduction

tudents may be experiencing alcohol for the first time when they come to MSU. Our goal is to prepare students to have the necessary knowledge and skills to feel comfortable refusing alcohol if they choose not to drink, or ways to stay safe if they do choose to drink. Students will learn about alcohol's effects on the mind and body, consequences that can come from excessive drinking, as well as ways to maintain a safe BAC. Students will also recognize the four signs of alcohol poisoning and understand how to respond.

*Narcan Training

The Student Wellness Narcan Training will teach students how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and safely administer the opioid overdose reversal drug, Naloxone. Narcan training requires a minimum of one hour*

Safe Sex

This presentation uses Kahoot! to test participants’ knowledge on sexual health and campus resources. The goal is to empower students to talk about sex and reduce stigma around seeking resources. Students will be able to identify three barrier methods to protect themselves against STIs, increase their comfort level with sexual health terminology and learn about campus sexual well-being resources, including where to find condoms and Plan B and get tested for STIs.

Basic Needs

The Student Wellness Basic Needs program exists to support students with food insecurity and public assistance navigation. Students will learn about general basic needs on a college campus, accessing and utilizing the Bounty of the Bridgers food pantry, and seeking support for public assistance programs like SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, and more.
