Innovation Learning Studio: Renne Library
Description of Request
Submitted By: Doralyn Rossmann
In June 2022, the Space Management Committee approved reallocating the former Innovation Learning Studio (ILS) in Renne 115I from the Library to University Information Technology (UIT) to expand Service Desk operations, with University Facilities Management committing $100,000 to develop a new ILS location. A new site has since been identified on the second floor of Renne Library, and design planning is underway. The proposed space will serve as a flexible testing lab and student resource facility for emerging instructional technologies, jointly supported by the Library and UIT. Designed for a capacity of 57, it will primarily support informal student use while accommodating teaching, seminars, and hybrid learning. Its adaptable technology will enable both collaborative group work and larger-scale presentations, reinforcing the university’s commitment to innovation and student success.
