WORKSHOPS, EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Announcement: Grad Leadership Academy Applications Open

Applications Due: Aug 6

Now entering its second year, Montana State University's Graduate Leadership Academy is a unique transdisciplinary professional leadership training program that centers the values of equity, inclusion, and collaboration in its curriculum. In the fall, program participants will attend a bi-monthly workshop series designed to encourage reflection on the meaning and practice of inclusive leadership and, with guidance from exceptional guest faculty speakers and community leaders, to provide students with a range of perspective on, and examples of, inclusive and collaborative leadership. In the spring semester, students will pivot from an emphasis on ideas to an emphasis on praxis: students will collaborate to design and implement community service-learning projects that advance the ideals of equity and inclusion within the MSU community and beyond. By the end of program, students will have gained knowledge about, and experience with, equitable and inclusive leadership and will thus be better prepared for their professional futures.

The PhD Completion Award application period is now open until June 30. MSU PhD students who will be in their final term of PhD research and dissertation writing can apply for a PhD Dissertation Completion Award. Announcement: Filling out the FAFSA

If you have not done so already, the Graduate School encourages you to fill out the 2021/22 FAFSA at www.Fafsa.ed.gov.

Having a FAFSA on file helps with scholarships, emergency funds, and in determining student loan eligibility. You are not obligated to borrow any loans that you are offered. The FAFSA also prioritizes student needs in regards to Federal stimulus funds. Completing the FAFSA will help MSU when considering how best to support its current students.

If you need help in completing the FAFSA, contact the Office of Financial Aid at finaid@montana.edu.

MSU Writing Center services for Graduate Writers

Where: Online

The MSU Writing Center is here to support graduate students!

This summer the MSU Writing Center has two graduate tutors available to provide online one-on-one tutoring. The accountability of regular tutoring sessions can help keep you on track and discussing your ideas with someone, whether during initial brainstorming or final editing, can be motivating through the summer months.

Tutoring sessions are online; you can make an appointment at https://montana.mywconline.com/  by creating an account (if you don't already have one) and filling in your details for their chosen appointment time. To access the online session when it's time,  return to the schedule, click on the appointment, and click on Start or Join Online Consultation.

The Writing Center is also offering the option of a drop-in writing group. Summer schedules are so often in flux. A drop-in group allows writers to get feedback from multiple readers, without committing to a weekly schedule. You can sign up for a one-hour time slot and submit a short section of your work. Groups are limited to four participants and a writing center tutor will divide the time equally among participants and facilitate the session.
